√ The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is in charge of administering the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), a monthly tax-free benefit that assists with the expenses associated with raising children under 18.
√ The CRA adjusts the income requirement and increases the benefit payments every year in July to determine eligibility.
√ The CCB payment is available to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, a refugee whose claim has been approved, and temporary residents (who have been in Canada for the last 19 months).
√ While the benefit is automatically increased and paid to eligible Canadian families, newcomers to Canada and parent(s) with newborns need to apply for the first to start CCB payments.
√√√✓Who Can Apply For CCB?An individual or families need to meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply or receive Canada Child Benefit:~ Have a child(ren) under 18 years of age~ is/are primarily responsible for the upbringing or care of the child such astaking care of child(ren)’s daily needs and supervising their activitiesensuring the medical needs are met for the child(ren)managing child care as needed~ is/are a Canadian resident for tax purposes and is/are or have a spouse or common-law partner who is a~ Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or a protected person or a temporary resident living in Canada for last 18 months with a valid permit in 19th month or is registered or entitled to be registered under the Indian Act~ Individuals or families with just a “Refugee Protection Claimant Document” are ineligible for the CCB.
√√✓Canada Child Benefit Eligibility Income:-Benefits are available to all Canadian taxpayers, regardless of immigration status, and are calculated using the adjusted net income of the family.
√ To be eligible as a temporary resident in Canada, one must have spent at least 18 months in the country continuously and hold a valid permit in the 19th month.
√✓The age of the child or children and their reported income in 2023 determine the amount that will be received.
√ The maximum payout for eligible families with an annual income of less than $36,502 and children younger than 6 years old will increase to $7,787 per year ($648.91 per month) in July from $7,437 ($619.75 per month) in the previous year.
√ From July onwards, qualified families with annual income of less than $36,502 and children aged 6–17 can receive up to $6,570 per year ($547.50 per month), an increase from the prior limit of $6,275/year ($522.91/month).
√ Be informed that the CCB amounts listed above are the maximum amounts that families can get per child if their Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI) falls within the range of $36,502 or lower.
√√ CCB Payment Dates 2024-2025CRA sends our CCB payments every month, on the 20th, or on the Fridays if 20th falls on a weekend.
√ A lump sum payment is made in July if total annual benefit is less than $240 and no monthly payment is made after that.
